Does Microsoft have a gem buried at the end of 2007? We take a look at Sakaguchi's second exclusive RPG to the Xbox 360 console.
The 2007 calendar year is full of epic titles that are set for release this holiday season. From Halo 3 to Grand Theft Auto IV, the year is action-packed and full of vigor. One title that is lurking at the end of the year is Microsoft’s highly touted RPG, Lost Odyssey. Not much information has been revealed for Lost Odyssey outside of a few trade show demos and trailers. Let’s take a closer look at what currently is known about this ambitious turn-based RPG.

Lost Odyssey is set in a world on the verge of a mystical industrial revolution. Located at the center of revolution, where mankind has attained dark powers, is Kaim Argonar, an immortal cursed to live for 1,000 years. Since Kaim is unable to die he’ll outlive multiple families; watch those he loves and cares for die; and face many generations of change. Ultimately, Lost Odyssey’s storyline will take players through Kaim's life and focuses on the day-to-day events he encounters.

The reason as to why Kaim has been cursed for 1,000 years won’t be revealed until the end of the game. There hasn’t been even a subtle hint of why he has been cursed from the trailers. Kaim’s exploration of the world includes areas such as a wasteland of ash and smoke, a rigorous mountain area, and a rather large city that he gains access to by hitching a ride on the back of a truck. These areas will be enough to keep Kaim occupied on his journey until he is able to finally discover the truth.

Lost Odyssey is produced by Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the original Final Fantasy series, and founder of Mistwalker. This means that Lost Odyssey is under direction from one of the highest-achieving RPG creators ever. Also on the team is Nobuo Uematsu, music composer of several Final Fantasy titles; Kiyoshi Shigematsu, a famous Japanese novelist; and Takahiro Inoue, character designer. One fine team, if you ask me.
