Feel Plus, the actual developer of Lost Odyssey, has released their latest status update, stating that it was 70% done. On top of that, Famitsu Magazine released information that the skill system will be differing between the characters that can die and the ones that can’t.

As for the features of Lost Odyssey, a few of the noteworthy aspects include: the ability to steal powers from fallen enemies; players will never view the dreaded “game over” screen since Kaim cannot die; there will be a total of eight playable characters and/or NPCs; and the models that are being used in rendered movies will look almost identical to the real time models.
A recent trailer provided details that the game won’t be all in-game graphics as the trailer contained CG animation. Hopefully, for the most part, the transitions between cutscenes and gameplay will be seamless. The screenshots have shown the dark and supernatural sides of the story, but Sakaguchi has promised there will be humor included in the game too.

One thing I found interesting about the action is that Kaim seems to automatically block any hit that he receives from the front, but the ones received from behind manage to do some damage. The command menu seems quite simple, including a basic sword slash, a health replenishing ability, a mana replenishing ability, and a defense booster. Thankfully, the turn based fighting style of LO is shaping up quite well.
Microsoft and Mistwalker are set to release Blue Dragon at the end of the summer, so be prepared for an onslaught of media and information about Lost Odyssey after the release of Blue Dragon.
